2) It's a parabola (U shaped curve) because only x is squared.
3) correct.
4) It's a circle if you add x^2 to both sides: y^2 + x^2 = 4.

a parabolic eqn is of the form y^2=4ax+c or x^2=4ay+c
the above given equation is of the second form..

where a=1/4,c=4...
graph:its like a parabola with vertex on the y-axis..
