Many people around me are D.I.Y. fans and some start as early as 7.30am.

What time do you think is reasonable? Am I being unreasonable to ask them to start later, after all I suppose Sunday is the only day they get off.

about 10.30am, at least it gives yourself and your neighbours the chance of a lie in if they so wish. If you HATE your neighbours you could start at 7.30am on a Sunday alright!

Well, Den - I totally see what you mean..
I had a wee project to fit a few strips of wind-excluder to the front door.last Sunday.
No way am I waking the neighbours up at 9 am.
With a drill etc.
I figure sometime after ten is reasonable.
If you have a DIY job on next door at 7:30 am - I would have a polite word or two !
I think that you are being reasonable.
All the best,
Bob

The accepeted time is 10am for most suburban areas in the country it is at whetever time milking is over.
Lawn mowers are not permiied before 9am on any day did you know that? The noise abatement society enforces this rule and if a complaint is laid you get one warning the next is a fine for creating a disturbance. Bit like the airport No planes may take off before 6am weekdays and 9,30am Sundays

I don't think any kind of DIY including hammering or drilling could be classed as nuisance noise during daytime hours (7am-10pm), why should they have to do it at a later time just because one person wants to stay in bed longer or something, that's your choice to do, not theirs. I would say anytime after 7am is reasonable, it's their time to spend as they wish.

Noise nuisance is an unreasonable emission of noise at an unreasonable volume or length of time, that affects you at home in a SIGNIFICANT way. I don't think a spot of DIY would be covered, so they may do it when they like.

My husband works nights so when the neighbours do DIY in the daytime, which is reasonable, we don't moan at them as it's not their fault. People should be able to use their own time as they wish and not worry about what other people feel about it.

Ask them politely to start after 0930 in the morning. If they are reasonable and you are reasonable this should work. If not buy a drill and start at 0600 one Sunday just to bring home the point.

Never before about 10:30 AM. Give us a chance to lie in!

Personally, I don't make any loud noise (i.e. vacuuming, music etc) in my house on Sunday mornings until after 10 am.

To aviod upsetting people who like to lie in on a Sunday I think 10.00 is a good time. Not to early and not to late to get anything sone. So no I don't think you are being unreasonable.

10 am if it involves any power tools or hammers. If you're painting, you can start any time you like as long as I don't have to come over and help!
