We've only heard one side of the story so far. why not wait to see how this issue develops and then make a judgement.

Difficult to answer this without sounding somewhat biggoted however, no other religious groups have been at the centre of International Terrorism as much as Islam has since September 2001. Sure there are extremist groups everywhere but Muslims have been responsible for some of the worst attrocities in recent years. There was the attacks on the World Trade Centre and the Pentagon, the Bali bombings, the Madrid bombings and the London Underground bombings not to mention the fact that extremist Muslim groups are attacking NATO forces everyday in Afghanistan, coalition soldiers in Iraq and Israeli civilians and soldiers on Israel's own soil. I apologise to the moderate Muslims but the Islamic faith has what we call form so it is only natural that those in power are going to keep a close eye on you. Just like the Irish were under close observation in the 70s and 80s.

However, the latest terror raids just like those last August relating to the trans-Atlantic bomb plot are planned using well researched and carefully gathered intelligience. Without information coming from within the actual Muslim community these raids would not be possible because the Police do not randomly target innocent people as the liberals would have you believe. Their resources are limited and valuable therefore they choose how they are allocated carefully. These raids would have been the culmination of months of planning where information would collated and analysed. And remember the Police can only investigate within the framework of the law as it exists not on what they think law should be. I refer you to the Police and Criminal Evidence Act and the Regulation of Investigatory Powers Act on this matter. Furthermore, to conduct pre-dawn raids the Police have to apply for warrants from the Courts and to gain a warrant the Police have to show why a warrant is necessary so existing evidence will be presented to the Judge. You say a Judge has criticsed the Police for having no evidence so why then have five men been charged with terrorism related offences as a result of the Birmingham raids? And remember its the CPS and not the Police who choose if someone is charged based on the evidence gathered so far.

If we asked every Muslim in the UK if they have had any trouble with the police 98% would probably say no. Judges criticise police all the time but obviously when Ethnicity is involved the papers get all over it.

Isn't that just typical of the Muslims - climbing on the freedom of speech bandwagon they don't have in their country of origin. How stupid to say that the UK is now a police state for Muslims! IT'S A POLICE STATE FOR ALL OF US and it's developed in the last 10 years of New Labour masquerading in the coat of the Middle Class to gain power. What a pity they decided on 'power' rather than 'responsibility'.

As for the most recent arrests of Muslims suspected of plotting to decapitate a British Muslim soldier - well it could be that disinformation is being put out by extremist Muslims themselves - to make the police look stupid. It could even be that those arrested who claim innocence may well be, but have crossed Korans with the extremists and the extremists are trying to split Islam by spreading rumours about the less extreme.

well at least they're not questioning athiests in connection to holy war activities! perhaps the police should be abit more sensitive and the unfortunate people that get wrongly picked up, abit more understanding and thick skinned. the police are after all trying to protect the public, which funnily enough includes the minority muslims.

No, not necessarily. Whoever wanted to behead a Muslims British soldier is clearly out of his/her mind.

But I think that it has to some degree prejudiced Muslims.

And I really don't see any evidence that the arrested really attempted to commit such a crime.

Could be the UK police is a bit Zealous. You know there is some racism in the UK police.

why is it that we only ever have this conversation about muslims and not other religious people.

if a tiger comes out of the jungle and into the village and eats someone, the villagers go and hunt the tiger, not the elephant.

there is all this media attention on muslims because there is no smoke without fire. they bring it on themselves.

they should all do a ken bigley and head off.

The way certain muslims are going then no if it saves one life & stops them blowing us up then its better to be safe than sorry. The police are in a no win situations. It might help if the leaders of mosques condemmed the fanatics.
