I would like to spend some time with my new co workers, but this lady is one of the administrators(in charge of raises in a small workplace) and I just feel kind of ambivalent about the personal nature of this party so soon...or am I being a worry wart?

hhhmmm...I can see how that might feel a bit strange. I think I'd go, and scope out the situation at first, then decide whether or not I want to show my true self...lol

Go! The first one that I ever went to was my best friends moms...only a couple years after high school. It was odd at first but really a lot of fun! Probably a good way to get to know them :)
