For me, I have to go with the TV series.
No one can play Crockett and Tubbs like Don Johnson and Philip Michael Thomas.

I loved the TV show when it was on, and had high hopes for the film. But, uh, no. So I say the TV show wins out. But could I still watch -- and enjoy -- the TV show now...?
OK, so, yeah, I could.
But the movie -- and I hate to say this 'cause I love Michael Mann -- stunk. Like really badly. Don't know how he managed to putrify this one since didn't he co-create or produce the TV show? And both Heat and Collateral were excellent crime dramas.
I'm baffled. And disappointed.

In comparison to other Michael Mann films such as Heat and Collateral, this film effin blew! I was sooo disappointed when I watched this movie. Notice I said movie instead of film. I was also let down because the man who made this film was the man who also produced the original Miami Vice television series. Therefore I expected it to be a lot better. Oh well, maybe they will make another one with different people and it will be better.

I've also never seen the series but the movie was awful. I'll go with the TV series

Definately the TV series - I looked forward to seeing the film but it was a major disappointment.

Tv series I think as I watched the Movie on DVD yesterday and it was a bullshit except a chinese woman she was cool and Collin Pharell's moustache also sucked.
