I don't know about foreign actors, but American actors I would say Tom Cruise, Tom Hanks, or Will Smith.

Brad Pitt and Tom Cruise, eventhough they are not really my favorites...I really don't have a favorite. And I guess this has to do also with the place and time that a person is from because I never even heard of the actor that was mentioned in this question...besides the name sounds Asian, so that says it all. Of course the numbers are going to be skewed if an Asian person is recognized by Asians in Asia because there are a lot more Asians in the world than any other ethnicity I believe.

I don't know who Shah Rukh Khan is so I think that TIME magazine is wrong on that fact.
I think that Johnny Depp, Denzil Washington, Tom Cruise, Robert De Niro Brad Pitt and even George Cooney are the most recognizable

Yes, Shah Rukh Khan is widely known, maybe not here in the States, but everywhere else he is very well known and extremely rich! Might I add, Gorgeous! I have one of his pic's as my screen saver.. I loved him in the Movie " Asoka" he looks soooo hot with that cold, black, long hair...yummy!

to be honest, ive never heard of Shah Rukh Khan until now. hmm thats prob coz he's a famous bollywood actor and im not so into that.
hmm i reckon the most recognisable actor would have to be ben affleck. he has that really prominent jaw and a uniquely shaped head. i would be able to recognise him in any film. seriously =]

i honestly believe brad pitt is.
he has been around for years
and girls still love him,
hes never old news.
and he is famous all over the world. think about it?
ask somebody in europe or asia, if you ask who is the hottest actor, 98% of them will say Brad Pitt in there cute little accents. haha. i actually always run into this question, and brad pitt seems to always be the answer. if you play 'the first thing that comes to your mind'...this will mostly be how it goes for non-american people:
