Depends what kind of atmospheric music you are after. Try looking for public domain music / royalty free music and also if you are after kind of analogue synth type music look at software sites like Propellerheads Reason and Ableton Live and you may be able to find some stuff there.
Hope this helps!

You can listen to all types of music on this site, free of charge: http://www.pandora.com
For info, here is a list of some ambient artists: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_ambient_artists
Enter the artist name into Pandora search box and leave it running in a hidden browser window, you will hear continuous broadcast of similar songs/artists to the one you chose. This is a clever feature too, click the thumbs up or down icon to alter the search terms, as it will learn your musical tastes and preferences and find new music you may have never heard before!
To download the songs you would have to go to iTunes or a shop.
Hope this helps!
