There is, and it's either happening right now or it will start in April. I'm not sure cause when I was there I got various answers but I know that there's a rain season and a monsoon season and one of them is from November till January-February and the other one from April till June or sumthin' :)

Wait I found a site for you:
Monsoon

The weather in Malaysia is characterised by two monsoon regimes, namely, the Southwest Monsoon from late May to September, and the Northeast Monsoon from November to March. The Northeast Monsoon brings heavy rainfall, particularly to the east coast states of Peninsular Malaysia and western Sarawak, whereas the Southwest Monsoon normally signifies relatively drier weather. The transition period in between the monsoons is known as the intermonsoon period.

If you happen to travel to Sabah (Malaysian Borneo, neighbour of Sarawak in above post): no we don't really have a monsoon season but we have a rainy season from October to February. This year it is again rather dry though...

Malaysia is a tropical country throughout (Peninsula & Borneo), just take a raincoat or umbrella wherever you go...

thailand is tropical while malaysia is equatorial
both have 2 seasons - dry season, wet season
in thailand (also indochina) you can see the season obviously-there's clear contrast between this two seasons
but in malaysia (also singapore) the seasons sometimes like 'overlapping' each other where you can't see it so obvious

now its good time to visit malaysia
