The DNS in windows assigns that.
You can add a \0 or \1 to it to test. Might need the /r switch, but most likely not.
In cmd.exe type ipconfig
in Linux use Terminal or Command Line and type what you know works.

Start -> Run -> Cmd -> ipConfig
For IP Address, your DHCP/DNS server administrator should help you out.

Start > run > cmd
type 'ipconfig' hit enter.
gateway -> server IP. rest is pretty obvious

ipconfig /all in command prompt
or goto control panel>internet option>properties for TCP/IP
Internet ----------------- Router ------------------ CPU1 -----CPU2
...............IP(outside) ---------- IP(inside) === IP --------- IP
on one side of your router you have an IP address that the internet sees. inside of the router your network sees a separate IP. each CPU on the network has a IP that corresponds to your router
