i believe that college books are used more when a high school student is preparing for a college-equivalent test that would allow them to earn college credits on the subject (i.e: AP and IB).

all i know is that i have a 1000+ page calc textbook full of mathematical goodness for the AP test, and a chem textbook less than 2 inches thick that claims to be a college textbook.
plus it depends on how in-depth your book goes on different topics. judging from the pages, it's either a very concise college textbook (as my chem textbook claims to be) or a high-school textbook.

in my experience, a high school textbook is really easy to read and comprehend and college-level ones are harder.

The number of pages is a clear indication that this is NOT a college biology textbook - they usually weigh 5 pounds and have close to a thousand pages or more.
