How can one get to know the country's code?

If your talking phone numbers then you can find them in the international section of the phone book or from the overseas operator. If your talking political then you can look it up on the CIA web site. The have a world listing with country info.

Country code in regards to telephone? That can be easily found by searching "calling codes" Japan is 81 and USA is 1. That's probably not what you mean, but its something.
