On Tuesday I was walking down some steps in my residence hall and about halfway down a flight I slipped and fell. I slid down the remaining steps and I felt something tug in my neck like I had hit my head, only I had not. My right ankle hurt for awhile, but I did not notice any swelling, I just had trouble walking on it. I woke up Wednesday morning and my entire body was sore, especially my ankle, my neck and my shoulders. Does anybody have any advice on what I should do? Nothing is swollen, and I take Aleve, however I am having trouble sleeping due to the neck pain-I wake up every hour. Please help!

With any injury, the most pain will be felt anywhere from 24-72 hours AFTER the incident.
If you feel that you were not seriously injured, to the point of needing medical treatment, then keep your muscles hydrated by drinking lots of water (stay away from soft drinks and any other sugary drink). If you feel that the Alleve is not helping, try taking Motrin. The box will tell you to take 2 pills every 6 hours, but you can take up to 800mg of Motrin at one time. Each pill is 200mg each, so just take 4 pills at a time if needed.
If by Monday you're still in serious pain, you may need to just bite the bullet and go see a doctor. Of course, go sooner if anything worsens before Monday. I hope you feel better!

You REALLY need to go to the doctor or ER. Neck pain is serious and sounds like you received some injuries. It could get worse without proper medical attention.
If you can't affort to go to the dr, then go to the ER. They can't refuse to see you based on inability to pay. It's the law.
In the mean time, take advil (if you are not allergic to it) to ease the pain and any swelling you don't notice, and put ice on your neck (and anywhere where it hurts) for 20 minutes at a time.
It almost sounds like a spine injury and a rotator cuff tear. Unlike most things in your body, these will not heal with time. You need help, my friend.

ICE TO EVERYWHERE that hurts SEVERAL times per day for 3 days, then use moist heat, baths or warm towels. Alternate between tylenol and motrin. Take 600-800mg ibuprofen(aleve, motrin) every 8 hours. Take Tylenol 4 hours after you have take your ibuprofen so that you are alternating between the two. Rest. Your gonna be sore for several days. If not better in a couple of days then see your dr.

I do not want to scare you but:
Get to a doctor, YESTERDAY if possible. Worse case, you have a broken neck. A chiropractor cannot fix broken bones. If you do not have a doctor, get to an emergency room. Your neck may be out of alignment. The longer you go without getting it checked, the worse it can get.
Also, If you should move the wrong way with a broken neck, you will move into a one room condo with no exit. These condos do not have access to the Internet, only eternity.
Take care of yourself and see a doctor NOW.

you need to see a dr! it sounds like you may have pulled or strained a muscle in your back, you need to be on muscle relaxers and bed rest so your neck and ankle can heal properly. And have them do an xray to make sure you didn't pop anything out of place.

You should go to your doctor. Bones can be broke and not noticed. Even if nothing is broke, the doctor can give you meds to help the pain.
