Look, I like(d) Linkin Park, Eminem, Rage against the machine, Billy Talent, and other musical artists that no one likes. I'm trying to grow my interest towards blues/jazz and some other GOOD music genre, and I was just wondering if Starbucks music is where I should start with that. Are the CDs sold at Starbucks good? Does Starbucks have a good taste in music? If you know any GOod CDs that are sold at starbucks, PLEase tell me.

YES! They are amazing. When I worked for Starbucks in 1998, they had this CD called: Sounds of the Siren. Here are some of the tracks that were on it:

Caramel - Suzanne Vega

Baby, Now the I've found you - Alison Krause and Union Station

A Fine Romance - Billie Holliday

I say if you are looking to get acquainted with Jazz, Starbucks is a good start. So isn't just buying any CD by any of the popular Jazz artists:

Ella Fitzgerald, Billie Holliday, Miles Davis, John Coltrane, Duke Ellington, etc...

You could also check out some of the modern Jazz artists such as: Sade, Diana Krall and Jan Shapiro.

They happen to have a very good taste in music. Their repertoire ranges from Ella Fitzgerald to the new Dreamgirls Soundtrack. I've never been disappointed with what they have to share. Just take a look around, listen for a while and pick what you like. For jazz they've got some good Norah Jones, Nat King Cole, and Michael Buble picks. Just keep an ear out. :-D Good luck

I see some occassional good CD's at Starbucks, but their selections are very limited. I would start checking the web for some top jazz/blues lists.

Join some jazz/blues Yahoo Groups (ex. Match Box Blues - http://tinyurl.com/2td7j2) & ask for their recommendations.

Listen to radio stations locally & on the web (ex. www.Live365.com). Check out some jazz/blues shows locally. Go to CD shops specializing in jazz/blues and see what's popular.

Yes. I like going to Starbucks mostly because I love the ambience and the background music.
