I've been wearing colored lens for about 2 years, it helps to enhanced my looks and i feel comfortable wearing it too. However, i've heard from my friends that it is not advisable to wear for more than 2 years as it might cause some kind of infection or damage to eyes? it that true?

I have had mine for 5 years. I do not wear them every day and am very careful in the handling of them and they are fine. I would say that if the lenses aren't giving you problems then don't worry about how old they are. Next time you are at the optometrist ask him/ her.

"They"....being the optical professionals say 6 months to 1 year! I say "REALLY!?!?!"

I wear them too...like most...not every day and I'm careful in how I handle them and keep them clean.

My last pair (until I tore the right side by accident...grrrrr!!) lasted me a little over 2 years...I've never had the opp to get up to 5 yet.

I found that it helped to have Visine for Contact Wearers on me when I wore them so that if my eyes got dry, I could prolong the wear of them until I could get them out. Never suffered any type of eye infection and made sure that my makeup went on after I put them in as opposed to before.

Other than that...I'd say just keep 'em clean and make sure your hands are clean when you're handling them.

When they start to bother you consistently...it's probably time to get a new pair.

Good luck!

I wear colored lenses too, although not up to 5 yrs; but i don't think there's any harm in it. As long as you maintain the usual hygiene routine in putting them on and taking off.

i beleive that if you wear contacts, you should get monthly ones, they remain fresh and keep your eyes healthy too. getting the yearly ones work out a bit cheaper, but risk of eye infection can increase as its the same pair over and over again. you need to let your eyes breathe.

get monthly ones or daily disposables.
