Both are midfielders, they are great players but put together, they have failed to perform. So who should be in the team?

I am a Chelsea fan, and i'm obiously going to pick Frank Lampard, but I have to admit that Gerrard is a great player too.

I would not put any of the mentioned players (Gerrard or Lampard) if I were to build a team. The reason for their exclusion would be their rustiness in their game and inconsistency. Frank Lampard is sometimes great in giving crosses, long passes, and corners but is far too inconsistent. He ended the FIFA 2006 World Cup with 30 attempts and 0 goals. If you can't score a goal in 30 chances, then do you deserve to be even in the reserves?? Steven Gerrard has not been performing since many matches in the Premier League and hasn't scored a goal from long time. Therefore, I would not prefer any of the two.

Gerrard without a doubt. As a Man Utd supporter I'm much more concerned about Gerrard and what he's capable of when playing Liverpool than what Lampard will do against us with Chelsea.

Both players can dominate a match and dictate play but importantly Gerrard can provide something when there's nothing around. Think back to Liverpool's Champions League win. Think how Gerrard controlled the midfield time and time again and would provide a spark out of no where. A long range effort when nothing looked on the cards.

He's far more dangerous than Lampard. That's your answer.

Well, Lampard, at times, can be a great attacking force, creating a lot of opportunities to score goals. But then again, it seems he can also be quite inconsistent.

Gerrard, he doesn't score as many goals, but he has the ability to hold the team together. He's a great leader and a great player.

I guess all in all I would choose Gerrard, but that may be a little biased as he plays for my favorite club, Liverpool, and he is also one of my favorite players. But I do think I would rather have a great leader than anything else.

I'm not a Chelsea fan, nor a Liverpool fan, so I'm trying to be objective right here.

Both relatively have the same style of play, but I will pick Gerrard over Lampard, because I believe Gerrard has a better leadership skill on the field than Lampard.

Just remember how Gerrard led his teammates got past AC Milan on the UEFA Champions League final several years ago. They trailed by three goals to none, but he led his teammates to a furious comeback, and eventually winning the game on penalty shootout.

That's a leader I want on my team!

Definitely Gerrard. He is a lot better than Lampard and if his teammates weren`t such losers he would have won all the prizes. If Gerrard doesn`t play good Liverpool can`t win.His team plays good only when he does.Lampard can`t do the same.If he was alone in Chelsea like Gerrard in Liverpool he would be an average player!!!

Without doubt wotsoeva...Steven Gerrard is far the better player in everey apartment...lampard as showd to struggle in the engalnd squad...he may get more goals but cannot beat gerrard in performance...gerrard puts 110% in every game he plays and that's the kind of players england need wen comin up against the best in the world...I would also giv gerrard the captains armband every week based on wot he has dun to liverpool...although terry is a fantastic captain for chelsea i dont think hes better than gerrard for england captaincy

I would say gerrard. Lampard only has styles. Gerrard plays a big role in Liverpool's wins. For example, the champions league win.
Chelsea wins bcoz of Drogba.

Garrard, of course! He is the leader of his team and he gets lots of goals. He brings his team up to champion. But Not Chelsea. Chelsea's leader is only Drogba, Lampard is not so useful.

Hohoho...SG it is. You may say I'm bias coz I'm a Liverpool fan and he's my fav player. I'm sure many neutral will agree with me, though. Compared Lampard performance in the WC 06 and SG in Uefa Final 05 againts AC Milan and you will find the answer to your question.
