As you've probably discovered, stainless steel and bleach don't much like each other. It's a no-no. Try using a stainless steel polishing powder (like Barkeeper's Friend), and polish using a soft cloth in the direction of the 'matte grain' if there is one. Finish off the polishing task with a scant layer of olive oil, and buff it off with a dry soft cloth. Don't use kitchen towel; use a dry soft tea towel.

Call me crazy but I clean houses for a living been doing it for 17 years and the best thing to use on stainless steel is liquid plumber...Yes your reading this right... put a small amount of a throw away cloth and rub it on the entire steel surface. It will make your sink look brand new. It will take out any stains...rust, lime etc. You can use this on your pots and pans too. Just make sure that you rinse it very well. Wishing you the best. I have found that Mr Muscle glass cleaner seems to work the best, The oil solutions left streaks. You have to be careful on stainless as some finishes have a plastic lacquer coat and you can really mess this up.

Johnstons baby oil works a treat.
first clean it with lemon juice, then a nice rub down with Johnstons baby oil ( always wipe along the "grain" of the stainless steel)
