A man was holed up in his house after he had shot and killed his wife in the bedroom. Later that night, despite negotiations he shot and killed himself. The house is actually only a couple of miles from mine in a very nice neighborhood. Local law dictates that this kind of thing must be revealed to potential buyers. Would you consider buying a house like that?

This is just something I have thought about many times before, I personally would not feel comfortable in a house with such sad memories. The Dorthea Puente (she's the little old lady who was convicted of killing 9 other elderly people and burrying them in her yard, then she continued to collect their Social Security) house was for sale last summer. It's a beautiful old Victorian, it sold but I just could not live in a house like that. Looks like most of you feel the same way!

No,and no way. I would probably live in a cave first. I am super superstitous, but maybe someone else will though. I know we have 2 houses like that around where I am from. They do sell, but the owners have all left before a year is up, and then the house is on the market again for a long time. I wish they would just tear them down.

No way! I reckon you would end up becoming obsessed with what happened there. You would know what went on in which places and it would play on your mind always. I would find myself staring at the place where the body of his wife was found and know that the floor was soaked in blood. Lying in bed and imagining what she went through in her last moments and that dark and desperate energy would be absorbed in the house. Whether you believe it or not your awareness is enough to make that dark energy manifest itself. It would just really mess with your head! So even if you don't believe in ghosts or spirits, there would still be a dark, evil shadow over the place, if not psychically or through the paranormal then it would be psychological. You can't escape what you know, what is in your head, it would be way too creepy and eerie!

Yes, absolutely. You might get the house way below its real value, and as long as the person responsible for the murder was captured or dead I wouldn't worry too much about them returning. Investing in a security system might not be a bad idea if they were on the loose! The older a house is, the more likely a death or murder is likely to have occurred in it.

Hmmm I'm reminded of "The Shining" and that spoof Simpsons Halloween episode "The Shinning"...
I think if I liked the house enough, I would consider buying it, although i guess it would depend on how the person/people had died... I'd have trouble living in a house that I knew people had been brutally tortured and murdered in.

My ex-girlfriend rented the house where the reknowned 60s & 70s studio drummer Jim Gordon murdered his mother with a hammer & butcher knife in 1983. She didn't know before she moved in, but she always felt that the back bedroom was very creepy. I never felt that way, but then I didn't spend much time there.

No. It's just way too creepy. Especially the bedroom the incident happened. Gosh... Think about walking passed that room everyday. And coming back home to know you have to live in a house whereby someone commited suicide before shooting his wife?!?!

That's... scary.

So no. :)

No. As a Christian, I don't believe it is possible to lose your way between Heaven and Hell, but the fear is still there. Ghosts are creepy. And the mentality that one might be in your house will always freak you out.

what a sad story! but - yes i would buy the house as i dont believe in ghosts & ghoulies...nor should you. however...do you think that you might want to sell it on one day - because if so, you dont want a house that you cant sell on as you will have to reveal the story to new buyers. i would go for it..being in a nice neighbourhood makes you life more relaxed!
