I don't think Beckham would do any better, he's a good player but would not make a good manager. Maclaren is a waste of space and should never have been given the job.

I agree McClaren is a complete shower of Sh!te, i have never rated his abilities as a manager Uefa cup final including. He has the same love affair with over-rated players - i don't need to name them everyone knows who they are, that Sven did.
Whoever said Gus Hiddick that'd be an ideal appointment, i think that he'd look for the 24 best squad players not the 24 best players in England, same with big Phil. Even Martin O'Neill would have been a much better choice than that. Mind i'm definitely coming round to my mates idea of a Paul Jewell with Psycho as a coach.
I would like to see the FA appoint someone with a long history on the international stage potential someone who has won major honours as a manager. But failing that anyone who could get them to play as a team not a bunch of f*cking primadonnas.

when will people realize its not the manager thats out on the pitch playing.
its the spoilt overpaid premadonnas out there who cant get it together so full of individual selfimportance
who last night spent more time passing the ball about and ending up going backwards rather than forward at pace.
dont get me wrong some were trying but we were just lack luster and not forward thinking enough to make any impact
they all need a bloody good rocket up the backside and need to play with more spirit not just as if its their normall job
well what more can i say get some players with real national pride
who at the end of the game collapse with exhaustion not go off clapping the fans who have had to sit through another poor match

Guus Hiddink would have been a superb appointment.
We need a manager who can get England playing a more sophisticated style of football. Spain cut us open with formulated, intelligent passes, mostly keeping the ball on the floor, where England's hoof-it-up ramraid approach, hoping to get a man in space..... is so barbaric in comparison.
I thought Japan played excellent technical football in the world cup... with superb incisive pattern play football. All they were missing were lethal finishing... they created loads of chances... just lacked in the final firepower.
So I wouldn't mind their manager... Zico (who has now departed as manager of japan)... as new England manager. Maclaren is way too tied to the years of boring and inept football of the Sven years.

I tend to agree that Maclaren isn't up to much but I disagree that Beckham would be better.

The only good thing Sven McClaren (i call him that coz you cant really tell them apart as poor managers) did was get rid of Beckham the overrated poseur , but i agree he isn't and never will be the man for England.
I'd love to be able to name an English manager that is up to the job of making us World Champions, but I'm afraid i cant name anyone as we don't have one up to the job.
So IMHO it has to be Guus Hiddink, a man that has done it and has has got the T-Shirt...that's providing he doesn't get jailed for tax evasion in Holland first !

He's to old fashioned in his thinking and his tactics. He needs to go. There are a ton of managers out there that would be suitable....
What about Klinsmann or Lippi? Both managers are currently out of a job, one of them lead their nation to a semi-final in the world cup and the other won it. Both of them had teams that no one expected to even make a quarter final, let alone get close to winning it.
Don't go for a manager with club football experience - pick an international freak. Club football and national football are two completely different things.

The rumour is and its from a very good source that Thaksin the deposed Thai prime minister is paying 500 thousand pounds for the job.
He managed to get some great results when in powerand he believes he can do yhe same for the England football team.
I'm for it!

Couldn`t agree more, we have just appointed our own Mc Laren in Mc Leish to the Scotland job.
As for Beckham, you are better off without him mate.
