Leopards have dark black spots on the head and neck but further down the body, they turn into a rosette shape. The outer edge is dark black but the middles are a lighter color. (usually the same color as their body) They also have a spotted tail.

Cheetahs have solid black spots all over their body and the spots can be bigger than on a leopard.They also have a ringed tail.

to me...a cheetah's fur looks more like Dalmatians spots..and not so dark....a leopards fur has Extremely dark spots...and seems to be a bit larger in size.
