A 75 M.P.H. fastball that is hit with a metal bat comes off the barrell at an average speed of 140 m.p.h. A 75 mph fastball that is hit with a wooden bat comes off the barrell at an average speed of 115 mph. You decide with is the better bat.

metal. That's why they are banned from major league baseball. The speed at which the ball comes off a metal bat is way above that for wood. It is actually banned not for extra home runs, but for the safety of the pitcher. there is no give in metal as opposed to wood.

metal, no doubt. They now have new (well, it was new back in the late '90's when I was still in college) technology to take the pop outta metal bats, but it's still no contest. Besides, you can cheat and get an cheap single w/ metal if the pitcher handcuffs you w/ an inside fastball- wood wood just snap like a toothpick and you pull a weak grounder.

metal is always better. why mlb banned them. there is a "sweet spot" of about 3 inches while wood is about 1 inch and half. a ball leaving a metal bat with a mlb hitter could jump to a 150 mph would actually kill a player comebacker to the mound and the pitcher would have no chance.

A metal bat is better because it like jumps off the bat so it will go farther.

Metal by far.
The structure of aluminum is much more rigid than that of any wooden bat. Any type of deflection causes loss of force, and the wooden bat has much more deflection. Also, the sweet spots of the aluminum bat are larger than that of wooden bats. The sweet spot is the top-mid part of the bat that generates the most power.
That's why you don't see guys in the major leagues swinging them. They'd have to move the fences back to 500 ft.

Metal. The only reason that professional players don't use metal is that the metal hits the ball so hard, a batted ball would fatally injure a fielder.

No doubt metal bats are better. That's why so many college "sluggers" struggle in the pros. The metal bats are more rigid and the "pop" off them is faster.
