In most of the world where we are fotunate emough to have so many facilities we have complicated our lives and therefore when something like this does occur, we expect the goverment, council to deal with it, yes we can live with it, if we thought of the less fortunate around the world, the same way if we thought of how much food and money they have and disease, and yet they smile, most with parents killed, agesd so young
thanks

It's because we don't have it often enough to get good at dealing with it. We have stupid 17 year old kids driving around at rediculous speeds who, quite frankly, cannot drive. We put more and more drivers on the road and make it more easier to pass the test. Make it harder and put up the age for taking a driving test. The other problem is mothers taking their molly-coddled kiddies to school, not just the very young ones but the lazy teenagers too. Make them get the bus or walk and get those bloody 4x4's off the road and things will be easier.

If by "this country" you mean Ireland, then it is because we don't get very much of it, so nobody has the equipment to deal with it. I've never seen snow chains, for example, and Irish drivers are not trained in how to drive on snow.

Canada deals well with snow ..true...but if you go to a city in Canada like Toronto...they see 1 snowflake and the traffic grinds to a halt!! lol If you're not accustomed to driving in it then it's frightening to alot of people. I used to drive in blizzards on 6 lane highways in Canada and snow it nothing to me

At the moment I'm having a day off with my kids (and we already had a great time in the snow), because their schools are closed. There are so many things going wrong in this country, that this is actually the failure I mind the least. ;)

I don't know...but they closed the Bakerloo line and parts of the Northern line this morning - not because it was snowing but because they knew they could get away with it as everyone was expecting delays anyway.

I know, I come from a country where snow in winter is a normal thing to happen. But of course because it happens every year people are prepared unlike in the UK. Still, - it makes me laugh! ;-)

BAHHHH HUMBUG!!!!!!
We probably CAN deal with the snow in this country................... we just DONT want to!!!!
On the odd occasions when we do get snow we WANT to have the day off and make the most of it!!!!
What would you rather do - Work OR make snowmen, snow angels and if possible, go sledging down Greenwich Park with (or without) the kids and drink hot chocolate???
Let it snow, let it snow, let snow!!!
(and don't tell my boss I said this......... I'm COMPLETELY snowed in at the moment and couldn't possibly get to work!!!!)

It seems to happen whenever there is what they class as 'extreme weather'!!!!
And the issue about Electric trains and points being blocked - maybe we should learn from Switzerland and Austria who don't seem to have any problem with their electric trains during their busy snow ski season!!!!!!!!!
