Obviously you are going to have some swelling after the op .. but with time, once your tummy has healed, you should be able to excercise your tummy muscles back into shape. They usually cut you just about the pubic bone, so its quite low down and doesn't really affect your stomache muscles. I had a c section with my first child, and within 6months I was back to normal!! Just don't rush it ... take it slowly!

Well, I didn't get a chance to get super big since I gave birth at 27 weeks, but I had preeclampsia severely so I was super swollen for a couple weeks afterward even. I had a c-section and it actually took like a month or two to get my belly and skin back to "normal". Breastfeeding is supposed to help (which I did).
I don't understand what a c-section has to do with flabby belly skin? The pregnancy is causing your belly to stretch out...so no matter HOW you have the child (vaginal or c-section), it's going to take a while to get the stomach muscles and stuff back down again.

It is really difficult to get back in shape after a C-section. I will never understand why some women choose to have one. You cant walk properly for days, you have a catheter, you get a scar and the whole proceedure is deeply unpleasant.
You can do it though. You just have to work a bit harder on strengthening your abdominal muscles than if you have had a natural birth. Breast feeding is a big help in burning calories too.
EDIT- congratulations on your big baby. Mine was 10lbs 4 oz ( very bigg too ) I didn't have a c-section because he was big, I had an emergency one. There is no reason not to have a natural birth with a big baby if that is what you want. It is your decision not theirs ( as long as there are no complications ). IMO, doctors are too quick to perform C-sections, a good midwife is the person you should be listening to.

Yeah, I think most women who had it have this idea in their heads, oh well, I can't do anything about it, so be it ... and put their flabby bellies down to C-section.
But really, you do some excercise and you'll be fine!
I have two scars, one like C-section scar and another one from appendicitis. At the moment I'm doing some excercises to get my tummy back to nice but it takes a bit more effort.
So don't give up ladies! :-)

yes it is possible by doing exercise and eating right. however, a c/section is major surgury and ur body needs to recover from the shock it will have been thru from that surgery so u will need to take it easy for at least the first 6 weeks. You can do light exercises such as walking or swimming but save the harder stuff for until after ur body has recovered. Its not worth doing more damage to ur already sensitive body for the sake of looking good.

well remember that the csection cut/scar is quite low, below your belly so it doesn't really affect your belly skin any different to a natural birth. i had a caesar and managed to get back to my normal weight with no flabby belly skin... i guess it depends what you were like before pregnancy and what you do after pregnancy to lose the weight!
