I have intel Celeron 1.50 GHZ and 760 MB of RAM and total size of hard disc is 58.8GB and still have 32.8GB free why the hell is my comutper running soooo slow, it have virus scanned it, deleted temp files, disc clean up, defrag, what else can I do to make the damn thing run faster, it use to run super fast.

Could it be from it having too many things running in the background.. And if so how do I know what ones to delete, or stop from running, there are so many processes and I don't want to make the system unstable by deleteing the wrong ones??

Anyone can help me.. thanks

i have a lot of suggestions to make your pc run fast..

1. you said you have a 50gig hardisk..is it partitioned? if not try to partittion your hardisk into 2 drive..make 20gig for drive C and the rest is for drive D..(the reason is the bigger capacity of drive C the bigger memory needed..) when you partition your hardisk ofcourse you need to install a new windows..
2. how about the memory? if you feel the memory is not enough much better to add more..there are some games needs higher specifications..
3. what antivirus did you installed, is it norton or macaffee? those
antivirus makes the PC slow..try AVG or Bitdefender (bitdefender is the number antivirus last 2006)..
4. do you have a lot of progrms installed in your PC? if that try to use necessary software you needed..if too much softwares installed in PC it makes it slow..
5. alwys check if there is a virus in your pc..it is also makes you pc to move or read slow.

i hope it will helps you in your trouble in your PC..
have a nice day!

You need to download a program me called registry this will re register some some/most of the programe running on the computer, sometimes some things unregister so this is why you need to run this programme.

If not, then i would and also download all Microsoft Updates for your computer to make sure that you can get the best out of your operating system!

Check for Spyware using Spybot Search & Destroy www.safer-networking.net and Ad-Aware SE www.lavasoftusa.com
Install and get latest updates, then reboot into Safe Mode to run scan and remove spyware found. You can also download hijackthis from www.merijn.org and use the "Scan and Save Logfile" option, then email me the hijackthis.log or post it to one of the forums for posting HJT logs at castlecops.com, bleepingcomputer.com, tomcoyote, etc.

Go to Start>Run> type in msconfig and hit Enter.

The select the "Startup" tab, and uncheck those programs that you do not use frequently and don't want started automatically when you switch on your computer.

This will help alot with the speed.

befor you start deliting stuff, you way want to open hard drive properties, click toos tab and click scan, check both boxes. it will ask if you want to scan the next time you start you computer, click yes. then restart. it will take up to 2 hours, but can fix a few problems.
