An authentic recording would be very rare prior to about 1928.

That is because the recording process then was mechanical. When electric amplification was applied to making phonograph records, portable equipment allowed people at home to make their own. Some radios made in the 1940s even had a recorder built in so that broadcasts could be recorded at home.

Your best bet is to try and find a syndicated program from the late 20's that was distributed to radio stations by phonograph records called transcriptions. Stations sometimes kept these, and later after the introduction of tape recording after WW2, hobbyists converted these originals to tape, first open reels and then cassette.

Hobbyists regularly sell these copies, look at eBay under the OTR or Old Time Radio category.
