I used to pronounce it similar to that... nine-dy like you said, only leaving the n in. I think it just sort of started coming out that way when I spoke in a rush.
That changed when I started working with Kindergarten children, and had to help them sound out words constantly. Now I articulate my words better, and I say "ninety" just like it is spelled.

Actually, the word is pronounced Nine-tea
Just enounciate each letter, this is one word thats really simple to pronounce and dosent have any silent alphabets or letters that have to be prounounced differently.
