Assuming that you must invite a vampire into your home before it can enter, does this apply only to that particular building, or any place you consider home. That is to say, if you invite one into your current home, and then move, can the vampire enter your new home uninvited, or must you extend a new invitation?

According to the lore as I understand it...a new invitation must be issued for the now domicile.

I checked Emily Post's Etiquette for Everyday Vampire Living and she says that not only does the invitation not extend to your new surroundings, it is incredibly rude for a vampire guest to show up anywhere unannounced. This trend dates back to the middle ages and before when a vampire was unable to call or otherwise alert his host to his imminent arrival and so they frequently entered homes at will after their initial invitation. However, with the advent of communication technology, there is no excuse for a modern vampire to fly through your open bedchamber window unannounced. Good manners now dictate that he call ahead of time to arrange a feeding time that will be acceptable to BOTH of you. Instead of moving to avoid your clueless, unholy friends I suggest that you instead have an open and honest discussion with them. Explain that while you value their friendship and the bloodletting involved, you would appreciate a little notice ahead of time on their arrival so that you may tidy up the house and put away any religious articles that may be lying about. Try to understand that older generations of vampires may have limited knowledge of technology, but like most undead creatures-they have a strong desire to learn. Above all be firm! This is YOUR home and YOUR blood and you have every right to expect that both be treated with dignity.

Good luck to you and yours,

Lady Boux

The vampire legend comes partially from stories about Vlad the Impaler. (Also porphyria cutanea tarda is a condition that causes the skin to blister in the sun.) The werewolf legend can be attributed partially to people with congenital erythropoietic porphyria, a condition that causes excessive body hair and sensitivity to light. While there are several species of large lizards around today, I don't think they contributed to the dragon legend. Personally, I think most legends have some base in truth but become distorted over the years. Some legends, though, I think were just made up by someone trying to save their own ***.

You have to invite a werewolf to cancel the vampires invitation to your new home. Of course, that leaves you with a werewolf problem. But that's for another question.

Bloodsucking vampires like in the movies don't exist. There are fetish groups that believe themselves to be vampires though.

The vampires that do exist you don't want to mess around with. They're called psi vampires in the form of humans and will drain all your energy. You'd have to be rather stupid to invite one of those into your home.
