I have been having this problem lately...a lot with my bf. It is my opinion that he is hiding something. I dont know what your specific situation is and why your spouse is saying this, but I think they would be hiding something.

Nope--but implied trust is given and when a person thinks they are being checked on for no reason--it is a shock. It is also a communication problem---if you think there is a problem and hiding something is a clue--simply ask what is going on---did you think they were going to lie???Sneaking around is no way to see or find answers to your questions--it is as immature as a person who may be doing something wrong.

My ex did that because he wanted to blame me for his wrong doings. Instead of being a man and resisting temptation, he did wrong. He used to accuse me and blame me, he even wanted me to carry his guilt. This happens a lot when the spouse is hiding his wrong doings. Not every situation is like that but I think most are like that.

I bet he's secretly taken a second job so he can earn side money to surprise you with those diamond earrings you've always wanted.
(ps - it sounds like you ARE checking up on him)

because you're not telling what you're really doing ... when there's smoke... there's definitely a fire ...

one can see by the actions of another person that he/she is hiding something ... one is doing something unusual and just out of the blue you can be suspicious and ask that person "what are you hiding?"

they feel uncomfortable when they think u are checking on them because they are hiding things they don't want u to know about them. as those who have nothing to hide wouldn't get uptight or feel threatened about it they only feel threatened when there is something they fear your going to find.

Well maybe they are innocent. and everytime they feel like all eyes are on them, ears, witnessing their every move all the time invades their space and privacy just to simply have private thoughts or time to themselves.
Sometimes people just need to be around their own energy, geez.

They could be hiding something OR they might just be offended that you don't trust them.

from my own experience... definately hiding something, cos why become defensive if nothing wrong? keep digging u will find something, but make sure u are prepared fr anything. ask yrself if u really want to know or carry on in blissful ignorance.

they may not be hiding anything, but it might seem like you are checking up on them.
