I was reading Descartes ' I think therefore I am' which means something like you are thinking and you are conscious, that means, you exist but what is existence in the first place. I always thought that exist means being. But then a table doesn't think so does it mean it doesn't exist? Mmm...

Most people will never understand what it truely means to exist b/c they have never experienced what it feels like to not exist. Your conscious, your subconscious, your senses, your religious beliefs, and your emotional ties to the ones you love is what allows you to exist. You believe in these things because you choose to and therefore you exist.

Existance, I think is the time spent being alive as a person or animal, or a place or thing, or the whole while, a thing is either a whole part of something,or just a part or even a small piece, depending on what it is, until it is no longer, meaning, its age was either very old, therefore its existance has started to breakdown, until nothing is left of its existance. You can only"exist",if you are! I believe, and it applies to all things on our Planet. Example: A dead tree can exist until it is burned and disintergrated, leaving only ashes. Therefore the dead tree no longer exists! The ashes do, but the original thing (tree) is no longer in existance! Well,I tried my best to put my words to paper, hope I explained my point of view, so you could understand it. I'm no specialist on this but it made sense to me.

Existence means Presence. It may be visible or invisible to me. If I exist therefore everything else exists, is only limited with my existence. However, if I don't exist, does not mean that other things will seize to exist.
I think in a scientific way, if anything is present, it is existing. However, philosophically, it has been defined in many different ways.
If you feel like philosophizing, I would love to prolong this discourse. Let me know.

To exist means "to be". So, I agree with you on that. However, Descartes changed his phrase to "I am, I exist" which makes more sense considering he was implying that in order for him to be thinking, he had to be on a more advanced level, plane, mentality, etc than "existing" or "being".

Existence is nothing more than existing in time and space. Being is what we have to most control over to chang. "I think therefore I am" here he is talking about our being, but more exactly he's referring to the state of being... "I think happy thoughts, therefore I am happy." or the opposit "I think of danger, therefor i am paraniod." In each case states of being has changed from one form to another, however existence has remained the same.

Maybe existence is your family tree. I mean it starts from your mom and dad. And then from theirs, and then so on and so on. As far as a table, well it would exist in sense of touch, feel, and look. But that's about it.

Existence is nothing. Circular in nature. The moment you know that you exist, the moment has pasted away and past can not exist.

Now, coming to "does it means being?", it seems so and remember the earlier one. The moment you know you are becoming, its again past and past can not exist.

:) Isn't it funny? Its circular. Where ever you start, you end up in opposite of where you start.

The table doesn't exist in its mind because it doesn't have mind.

But it does exist phisically and also exist in your mind because (you means we or whom ever concerned) who is having mind and also there is an imprint of table there in the form of memory.

Hence there is an existence of table.

Now give me ten points if satisfied.

Even if you have the slightest impact on another creature, even if it is just brushing past a leaf on a tree, you are an important being.
