Rent or purchase a chainsaw. If the stump is massive , your other choice would be to buy a stump remover/killer at Home Depot or Lowes. This is the safest way. Copper something kills the tree stump well. Good luck

We had some professionals in who grind the stump down with a machine and leave you with the mulch which is very useful. It works really well.

call somebody from council who work with trees and removal as they have a stump remover machine and it mulches the stump below ground level .

Really theres no quick method except to dig it out as far down as you think necessary. Generally I get so fed up I remove about a foot lower than the ground and then let it go, cover with soil and replant.

they sell stump remover liquid at walmart or home depot you drill a hole in the stump pour the liquid let it sit and the stump dies and comes right out

Pour gas or oil over it and burn it.Then use the aforementioned tools to get the rest of the unburned wood out.Always works for me.
