Harsh language? Prayers to 'gods'? Well, neither one of those would work. The German Nazis were already at war with their own people before the war even started in 1939. The Japanese were already expanding into Chinese territory and killing Chinese in 1937. The Germans may have been stopped in 1938-39. The Japanese would have been impossible to stop without the co-operation of the Allies and bringing death and destruction to the Japanese. No war can be declared or ended (unless it's a "Phony War") without a little killing.

It was unfortunate for Harry Truman to have been saddled with this kind of decision so early in the administration. I talked to my instructor in history who was a Marine during WW2 who said that the US believed it would be saving more lives in the long run because the Japanese would have fought to the last person on their mainland and probably cost us almost a million men in casualties so dropping the bomb was one way im many in which Truman decided to end the war.In the streets of Berlin, the same could be said for the Germans who were fighting tooth and nail for every inch of land so unconditional surrender was really the only effective option left.

if we had waited longer or didnt drop them, we would have left the axis powers a window to produce more powerful weapons that could have changed the outcome of the war, the germans were already doing rocket experiments...

We should have simply acknowleged their cultural differences and been sensitive to their needs, and they would have simply left us alone. (And if you believe that load of hooey, I've got a bridge to sell you).
