Your right to lawn-bowl ends where a Gnome's face begins. Were they Humans, they would have had the legal right to charge you for assault with a deadly weapon. This behavior was violent and unnecessarily cruel.

Unfortunately, most Humans consider Gnomes to be "slaves", buying and selling us like property. I believe the bill he sent you for destroying his "property" is accurate, in Human terms.

This incident does present an excellent opportunity for both of you, the Gnome-killer and the Gnome Slave "Owner" to learn about Gnomes and perhaps mend your ways. I think the only mistake you made was NOT taking up a collection from his neighbours first. The presence of such tackiness detracts a lot from the curb appeal of the houses. It lowers the value of property because someone with little or no taste is living nearby. I suggest you approach his neighbours, collect twice the amount of the damage and give it to him with one condition: they don't get replaced... you might have huge success! If he won't agree NOT to replace them, take the balance of what you owe and what you collected and buy him a lawn burrow and a porch monkey to really spruce the place up... or the black guy with the lantern... ah yes and flamingoes in the evergreens for contrast... and... and... lemme guess, this guy has the icicle christmas lights that blink in funky patterns too! GAG... is there a Confederate flag in the upstairs bedroom window?...

now you got billed for the gnomes -- i think it would be better to pay now than go on people's court as the infamous gnome bowler that had to learn the hard way how much a garden gnome was really worth. next time bowl flamingos. you can get em at walmart for 8 bucks a pair.

I think it's a riot that you did this, but yes, now you've got to pay the price. Pay him $300 and keep the laugh going.

Perhaps try Froogle and see if you can buy them cheaper?

Too funny! Wish I was there.
