DHCP and DNS work in tandem. DHCP involves distribution of IP addresses. DNS involves resolving the IP addresses to Hostnames. Tools like QDNS combines both.

There is no relationship between DHCP and DNS, both are different, DHCP is used for allocation of IP to the machine with in the local network, and DNS is server ip provided by the ISP, where when ever you send the request or call the any URL from your browser, DNS server convert url to the IP and send the request to the particular server.

DHCP and DNS are totally separate services and are not dependent upon each other in any way.

DHCP assigns IP addresses and other settings to clients.

DNS handles FQDN to IP address resolution.

The only link between the two is that a DHCP server can hand out DNS settings (among others) to clients.

DHCP and DNS are not related with each other. DHCP (dynamic host configuration protocol) is a protocol that is used to configure the nodes on a network automatically.

That is, whenever you join a network with a DHCP server, your client computer is configured automatically for network settings and you can start using the network.

DNS (Domain Name Resolution) server is used to translate the website names you enter in a web browser to actual IP addresses. Basically, it allows you to connect to a website using the name of the website, instead of using the IP Address.

Both DHCP and DNS are used to configure network clients so as to enable access to the network.

DHCP and DNS are 2 different services that provide functionality to a server and network.

DHCP is a service which when run on the server or any other computer on the network would assign an IP address to the computers connected to the network Automatically.

DNS short for DOMAIN NAME SYSTEM is used to map names to IP Addresses. Say you have a domain test.com and you have computers with names system1, system2 etc.

Each system would have an IP Address which is assigned by DHCP or Manually given by administrator.

When you want to communicate with a computer you should call by its IP address which is very hard to remember.

So there are 2 services which help us map an IP Address to a computer name. WINS and DNS.

DNS would maintain a list of IPaddress VS Computer name. So when someone calls a Computer name it will kickin and give the call the address corresponding to the Computer name.
