Looks like the Rockies have the worst pitching and the Padres have the worst lineup.

Arizona and Colorado will battle for the basement. But wouldn't it be great is San Francisco was at the bottom. How can anyone outside of the Bay area cheer for this team anymore with Bonds in the lineup everyday. They had their chance to drop him, and they blew it!

I would have to say the Rockies probably will end up with the worst record in the NL West. They have not added any significant starting pitcher to a staff that really needed an ace, not to mention more depth. They also seem to stumble out of the gate after the season begins, which is very hard to recover from. Their lineup is also only so-so as the only proven run producer over a long period of time is Helton. Even though they have some talent in the Minor Leagues, it will be awhile before its ready. They will definitely end up last unless they make some tremendous changes befor the season starts.

The Rockies. The Padres will win enough with that pitching to stay in the division race. Meanwhile the Rocks would be smart to unload Helton to anyone that will take him for a couple of decent everyday players (especially pitchers).

If I had to make a prediction, I'd say Arizona because, contrary to what you've said, the D-Backs have a slightly worse lineup than San Diego and not much pitching beyond Webb (unless The Big Unit can turn back time).

I hope I'm wrong with my prediction, as San Diego deserves the poor finish due to keeping Cameron, Greene, and Wells on their roster.

Because I believe you only go so far as your pitching lets you go, I am picking the Rockies for last place. If they trade Helton t get money for the cap they might be able to pickup a star pitcher or two which the y definitely need.

The Giants. They have a talented pitching staff but they are incredibly old on offense. Who do they have on offense to carry that team? Bonds? lol.

Its not going to be Colorado. Colorado's line-up is extremely good. Holliday, Hawpe, Atkins, Helton, Tulowitzki, Carroll, Taveras, and Ianetta is as good as a line-up you'll find in the NL outside of Philly or New York. They have pitching questions, but its not as bad as some would say. In case of a Helton trade or injury to one of the others, the Rockies have one of the best and deepest farm systems in baseball to help along the way.

Looks clearly as if it will be the Rocky Rockies. SF, LA and AZ have all improved themselves and SD can't possibly slip that far. If the Rockies lose Helton what else can be said ;-(...
