Actually, NO he should NOT be able to perform.
The alcohol alone is enough to make some men not be able to perform. Remember, performance is based not just on WANTING too, but body chemistry, blood pressure, sobrietry, drug use, etc. Many medicines such as anti-depressants, high blood pressure medicines, etc., can also affect your sex life.
To then add MJ to the drinking would make about 30% of men be able not to perform. Both MJ "AND" ALCOHOL are depressants and tend to make the body more tired.
THE WORST of all 3 of these (the 3rd being the FACT its 3 a.m. when the entire country is asleep), and your EXPECTING to have sex? OMFG. Try to remember ONE IMPORTANT FACT, just because all of your sex organs are on the inside and don't require a certain blood pressure and has to fight gravity, then consider that.

Alcohol raises the libido and lowers the ability to satisfy the libido. MJ can cause a loss of concentration (wow you're so hot - my granny's coming to stay...). Tiredness too can put a dampener on things as the exertion is more than the body is prepared to endure.
What made you think he might be a closet case?

Not sure he would want to after all the preliminaries. Luckily sex is not a competition where after one strike you are out so it shouldn't be important if can or cannot.
