It means he wants to know whether you're checking up on him or not. Men are for the most part, simple creatures. If you ask a man what's wrong and he says, "nothing," it generally means nothing. Women are the ones who allow "nothing" to be interpreted in a million different ways.

If you're worried something may be wrong, then don't wait for the relationship to crash now, do something about it before hand. Ask him what he specifically means when he says stuff to you. Explain your concerns and go from there.

It could mean that he is feeling that you do not trust him. It could also mean he has something to hide and doesn't want you snooping around and finding out about it. If you trust him, don't worry about it and don't be doing anything that makes it appear you are trying to find stuff out about him.

it may be better to approach him later and just say that you were interested in whatever... or just talk about whatever is going on... relationships should be founded on trust... don't let it get so bad that you don't trust him for something he may not even be doing...
