Leadership is certainly not an inborn quality.... it has nothing to do with the genes.
The leader is made by the social environment one goes through and the philosophical attitudes one develops.... it may, however, so happen that an established leader's child is privy to being brought up in an atmosphere where leadership thrives fairly pervasively, but that again is not given as a fact all the time. It is our philosophical outlook in life that firms up our attitudes towards our responsibilities and other people's rights and these attitudes show up the way we handle our social responsibilities or intra-group and inter-group behaviour.
In my opinion, the leader in a person is born when the person first learns to take social responsibility... at this point in time, the philosophical outlook of a person as evident from inter-group and intra-group behaviour, determines whether he would better be a leader or a follower.
