I need to simlify the following:

[ e^x ] * [ 2x ] + [ x^2 ] * [ e^x ]

2xe^x + x^2*e^x
=
xe^x(2+x)

there is an x and e^x common to both parts.

e^X.2X + X^2.e^x
You factorise so it becomes
= Xe^x (2 + X)

You can't really simplify it any further, but you can factorise it as
x (x+2) e^x.
