If it is your ego you are wondering about, you really just have to have a lot of daily self-reflection. Without that, you won't go far. Make sure it is truly what you want, or you are setting yourself up to fail. Remember not to have pride in the fact that you try not to let ego get in your way, because pride can be a bigger hurtle to jump over, sometimes.
If you are talking about other people's egos. Well you kind of just have to deal with it in your own way. People seem to think the best of themselves and their egos from time to time, and the best way to deal with it is grit your teeth, and bare through it!

You feel egoist because, you think that you are having some thing great. You must know that nobody is great in this world. Everybody has to perish at one time or the other. Nobody is is ultimately intelligent or successful. Everybody has to face disappointments, failures at one point of time or other.
Hence instead of feeling egoistic, be grateful to god for whatever he has given to you, and try to be helpful in whatever way it is possible to make others happy or comfortable. This will ease your tension and make you humble.

awareness of ego can make things easier...dont you think our whole setting of human survival is based on categories of person, society, nation, religion, quallification, gender and so on... isn't it all about egoism.....unless we come out of our boundaries which are self imposed or conditioned by our surrounding...getting rid of ego is an assumation......separating oneself from the whole is ego and unelss we feel connected to the whole life energy ....ego would continue disturbing harmony of living.

imo, 'ego' is nothing but our unconscious conditioning to an unconscious society. we get rid of it by revolting against it and starting a new society, because the collective self and the individual self is ONE. there is no enlightenment in our present world. until everyone can be there, no one can be.

This is just one way. Be more aware of your environment and other people's lives...different lives. See how they live. Read books and biographies about it. Volunteer. See how people struggle, succeed, etc. You might just know one way of living. Women have different lives, the poor the rich, the Asians, Europeans, Africans, etc. It will just open your mind. And read the progressives and liberals, those concerend with diversity and oppression, etc. Learn about other lives. I think that will help.
