Literally just the background shows up. And right clicking doesn't function on the background anymore. To access anything, I have to use Ctrl-Alt-Del and click on New Task and type in explore.exe to have a single window pop up, with my desktop and everything inside it. It makes it very difficult to do things. Minimized windows either cause errors or just disappear off the screen. This all started when I tried loading an old copy of Worms: Armageddon onto my computer and from there on, my desktop disappeared. It's like that for every account on my computer, as well, and in safe mode. I think it may be a registry problem, but even registry cleaners haven't helped.

wow...that's more problems than one answer in this forum will be able to solve.

Go to this link, Register (it's free), and go to the Forum for your Operating System (Windows XP?)...ask your question and you'll get help:

If you don't already have it on your computer...download this,
they are going to want to see a copy of a logfile from a HijackThis scan of your computer:

Good luck!

Hmm, interesting problem you have there.

Once you have explorer.exe running, go into your Start menu, click on Run...
Type in the following "msconfig"
Select the "load all drivers" and whatnot option (it's the first one).
Reboot your computer.

If that works, then you have it back to functioning normally again - I'd go back into msconfig and look at the last tab. De-select stuff like MSN messenger and iTunes and the like.
Reboot your computer.

When it boots up again, it'll have a grey dialog box - click on the checkmark box [ ] and click [ok].

I hope this helps,
Amanda

If your running xp, try restoring your system to an earlier restore point. Also, you can look in the system log, by browsing to your system32 folder and look for the file called: eventvwr.msc double click on that and look in the application section for any programs that report errors, as well as in the system section for any error messages.
