What does this mean I see it when I right click on my computer, if I do it what will happen, will all my files etc still look the same, and be able to access them the same in the same files and folders? or will it Zip everything. Is it a good idea to do this to save disc space, will it free up my memory?

Yes, you will see that it does give you more space but your PC performance will actually suffers from this. You will notice that your PC reacts noticeably slower than before you compress your drive so it is actually not advisable to do so. Unless you prefer memory space to speed performance...

It's nothin like defragmenting, but yes, the entire contents will be compressed.

It doesn't zip everything, it compresses just about everything on the drive. Everything will look the same and be accessed the same way by you.

If your processor isn't fast enough, you'll see a little slower performance because everything you read from the drive (and write to it) must be uncompressed (or compressed).

You'll gain quite a bit of disk space by doing this, but it won't do anything for "memory" (RAM).

Note: If you compress the drive and then subsequently remove the drive to use in another system, you may not be able to access it unless the other system supports the compressed drive. (I don't recall if an uncompress option exists.)

If you're running low on space, try deleting temporary files and folders and unneeded software first.

When it says compress drive to save space. What that does, is that it take unessecary files that you have acquired over time and simply gets rid of them and frees up some space, but not a lot. Don't worry, feel free to Compress everything will be the same and you will be able to access the same files. But the best way to free up memory if you wish to do so is by clicking "Start" then go into "Accessories", then go to " System Tools " and then click on "Disk Cleanup" Once you get there it will have a list of files you want to compress (Hint) just mark all of them. Then once you marked them just click "Ok" and then it will start compressing and freeing up memory.

If you have plenty of disk space, leave it unchecked. It takes longer to access programs and data on a compressed volume because the operating system must decompress the data to use it. This in turn will slow system performance.
