In my honest opinion, it does not make you less of a man. I think it makes you more of a man because you are willing to admit and talk about issues such as this.

As for the pills, have you tried consulting with a different doctor or asking for a different medication.

Does the medicine help your symptoms? That is what is important: keep your illness under control, then consider any side effects. You are who you are. Taking an anti-psychotic does not change your manhood. Having your mind run out of control makes it difficult to have relationships that you could otherwise enjoy and gain strength and happiness from.

If this medicine, seroquel, does not work for you, go back to the doctor and try something else. I would suggest that you try taking fish oil or flax seed oil. Omega-3 fatty acids in these oils can be helpful to brain and nervous system function, as well as preventing heart disease and all sorts of benefits.

Being a man means being responsible for your own actions. Take care and get better!

Your brain in an organ - but it also happens to be our "thinking and feeling" organ, so we tend to think that we have some deficiency of charector when it doesnt work right - which is real messed up if you ask me - people dont think of themselves in terms of being "less of" when we talk about heart disease, or ulcers, or irritable bowels.

Quit believing all the negative stuff you are telling yourself - dont feel like you are some how responsible for the fact that you have illness of the brain - I doubt you would do it if you had a brain tumor, y'know what I mean?

I say this, if the meds help, keep taking them.
There are hospitals full of people who would love to have thier illnesses put into remission by taking a couple of pills everyday....
Seems like being able to think half way clearly and having a life that is more managable is certainly worth taking a pill for.

I wouldn't try it. Often times people feel better when they are on medications like this and this gives them the false hope that they will be okay without it. Imagine the roller coaster you would be on if you DIDN'T take the drug. You are not less of a man. You might be less of a woman...... but that's a good thing right, since your male? Just wanted to make you smile!!

Iwas taking Risperdal in the same class as Seroquel. I had more & more side effects - I took myself off these pills - No more anti psychotics for me. Call your Doctor & good luck
