i've read all the redwall books to date. and i love all the earlier ones. the current ones to me were very dissapointing. is it because im getting older(22yrs old) or is it because Mr.Jacques is losing his touch. by the way my 1st and fav redwall book is Martin the Warrior.

I've only read one of his books, and I found it very engaging. I actually took a teenager I was mentoring to a book signing of Jacques. He gave a most inspiring presentation to everyone present, and he had such a warmth about him.

I've been to other book signings and haven't felt the same kind of warmth. He was having trouble with his wrist but was still most gracious to sign everyone's book that was there.

Eulalia! All the way! Logalogalog! Redwall!!!

Mr Jacques is not losing his touch, I've read alot of his books including the 2004 book, Rakkety Tam. Nice to meet other fans though!

Eulaliaaaaaaa! Heh heh.
Yeah, I've read all of them, too, except this fall's. And I love Brian Jacques.
Well, several things are playing out here:
All the books are fairly formulaic. Even this afficianado must admit this.
Anyone churning out a book a year is going to sacrifice quality. Anyone. *sigh* Truly, much greatness is lost due to the need to slap out a product rather than let it happen like a tree growing fruit. (Wow, that's philosophical of me.)
We're both not as young as we were when we read our first Jacques books. And try as we might to deny it, it makes a difference. I still love 'em, though, and I'm proud of it!

Redwall is Totally awesome. You're right though--he IS losing his touch. My personal favroites were Marlfox, Triss, and Lord Brocktree. the 19th One, Eulalia is coming out this year. (You can tell by the title of the new one the series is losing readers, no?)

Very good series. I read the first six or eight books when I was a teenager. I need to go back and read the rest. I loved the snake/adder, Asmodeus.
