Amen to that. We divide ourselves even more when we pelt sh!t at each other. I asked two questions, both unbiased, about the main points of the Democrat/Republican party, and 99% of the answers were those on the opposing sides slinging dirt at each other. Way to go people. While I don't see eye to eye with you on all your debates, I have to star this question.

Number 1 we need to get people into office who cares enough about America to put America first! Not people who are power hunger and can be brought out at a drop of a hat!
As for the stinking education system, not all school systems stink. I am lucky enough to live in a community where they rank top in the state for education, Where they have won many awards national, and local for the quality of education. Maybe other states/cities need to take a closer look and see what makes a good education system.
Unfortunately the great political divide has trigger more offensive and defensive comments, question etc instead of people putting a side their political affiliation, to generate discussion which might come up with answers on how to deal with to-days problems and prevent more of tomorrows from happening.

It's easier to bash each other than try to solve the problems. I would like to address your statements, though.
Our soldiers are fighting to uphold our security. It's not always about America's freedoms but freedom in general. JFK spoke about that in the 1960's.
Our economy is not necessarily in the toilet but does need to be freed from the corporate hijacking that has taken place. The theory was a good one but absolute power corrupts absolutely and that's where we are, sadly, in the corporate world. Exxon is a perfect example.
The education system starts with the parents. Until the parents try to help educate their children, there is nothing more the government or the teachers can do. Parents have to give a crap about it and help. I'm speaking as a former teacher of 12 years.
The poor and manufacturing jobs are linked, IMHO. That has be fixed in the corporate world and there MUST be emphasis put on the corporations.
Our children are inheriting a mess but it's a great opportunity to show what WE are made of. We train and educate our children in the HOME first and they will be successful. Even more so than us.

The reason people are not talking politics is because the only smart politicians have been keeping silent lately:
Ralph Nader
Ross Perot
Newt Gingrich
Everyone else is a party hack with no innovative ideas. There is no reason to follow a loser like Frist or Pelosi or Biden over a cliff! We need a vidionary politician who will build us a bridge to the future. Who will change government from a money pit (aka, ATM for illegal immigrants) into an institution that will get the FCSK out of the way so we can make a difference in our lives, like people in India and China and other parts of the developing world are doing.

On the education level, I'm worried that we're "teaching to the tests" too much now--2nd graders are throwing up on the big, state-exam day, because the schools are getting so much pressure to score well. I would suggest we investigate a less competetive measuring system to increase the joy of learning and not just focus on the "proof" of learning, as if it were a corporation's quarterly report.

Of course not, they'd rather make fun of each other. And, someone probably has already written something bashing you for your post as I'm typing this one (and I thought I was going to be first).
Yah, I wish it would change. But you and I are a rare group; or at least, the least vociferous.

You want to fix all these problems? Vote Conservatives into office. Not republicans.......Conservatives. Some Conservatives are republican, some democrats. Only a small percentage of politicians are truly Conservative. Reagan was a true Conservative.
