I recently joined some penpal websites and I am receiving replies most of them from african countries asking for help. First they'll introduce themselves and after replying they'll send u another mail that they are refugees and they have lot of problems....... Pl. can anyone tell me is it true or genuine, and I dont understand why they want to join penpal sites and ask for help from genuine people who want to join for Friendship.

I suggest you ignore those type of letters. I've received e-mails from Nigerians claiming to have God-know how much stashed in some kind of account and all they need is some money and help to get it out. They're con-men.

In your case, they're posing as refugees. Refugees who have a lot of problems won't have the time to go online and join such sites. I know some real refugees and their children are busy in school trying to adapt while the parents do their best to adapt and also get jobs and take care of their kids. They don't have time to write letters. If it all, they'd e-mail their family and friends or make phone calls- a whole lot faster.

Ignore them completely, such things happens with the Phillipines too, ask them to chat n they will sit on you head asking for finalcial relief. These people should go to their government.

Well... dont talk to strangers is something our parents warned us as kids... Lol... this is the time to use that piece of advice... just ignore people who get onto your nerves... why add more issues to our lives when we have enough already to take care of?!
