Absolutely, to me it's totally worth it. One important thing is learning how to make the foods you like at home. But, of course, there's the time and cleanup involved which, (As someone else pointed out,) can take alot of joy out of cooking... That's why it's great to go out too. And I do not have a problem managing my weight around it either, the fact that I eat fresh, clean foods as opposed to Hostess and McDonalds helps that. You don't have to go out every night, learn about the local noteworthy chefs and seek them out.. Make reservations for the nights theyr'e cooking, so when you go out it's more meaningful. (Just don't expect the food to be to your liking all the time.) Honestly though, if this doesn't sound appealing to you, maybe foods just not your thing. (Nothing wrong with that.) If so, find a different hobby that doesn't make you ill with every penny spent.

Food has become almost a hobby for many people. If there isn't anything to do on a Tuesday night, a nice dinner at a nice resturant will occupy time and create converstaion and happiness.
Although food should not be looked at as a pleasure, dining out can be worth the $$.

Eating food *should* be a pleasure.. I know it can be hard to really sit down and enjoy food these days, with so little time.. everything is rush rush rush. Price doesn't really have anything to do with it.. something as simple as wine, bread and cheese (all fairly low in price) can be so satisfying.. it doesn't really matter where you are when you eat, as long as you are taking the time to taste the food and enjoy the meal(-:

I will not go to a fancy restaraunt and spend a load of money to eat. I like to eat and like to eat nice foods but I would rather spend the money on something else than to eat.
I think it depends on what you can afford.
Plus some days you just dont want to cook but there are nice places to eat that you dont have to put a second morgage on your house to do.

It has gotten to the point to where people think going out to eat is a right instead of a privelage.
The only reasons restaurants exist is because of laziness or people don't know how to cook.

Yes , it's a pleasure activity till it does not harm your health. .
To entertain yourself ,to relax ,to treat yourself after a week's good work, to meet good old friends etc,it's good to eat out in a good hotel proportionate to your wallet size.
At the end the hoteliers also earn their money and employees of hotel also get their salaries.

No. It's just marginally more pleasant than having to go to the bathroom. Food has become the "drug of choice" in this country. It's the panacea for boredom; loneliness; socialization and less "acceptable" addictions. It's why so many of us are getting fat; we're eating more & enjoying it less. Eating has become a habit- not a necessity. And its gotten to the point- that we're doing it til it kills us...
