i have AMD 3000+ with asus A8N-E board. the board shows CPU Socket 939 in specification. i am using this since last one year but now i want to upgrade my processor because i am feeling quit slow for my work.
actually my configuration is.
AMD 3000+
Asus A8N-E board
1 GB DDR 400 RAM
80 GB Sata
G force 6600 256 PCI E
rest of the things are good to me, but for multi tasking processor is very slow for example when i burn my dvd i cant operate other programmes properly, so i want to know first is there any intel processor that i can fit in this board. or any one can suggest me better AMD processor for multi tasking and performace also ?

Last guy gave you a fairly poor answer, after all you listed the speed of your RAM, and the hard drive is going to have little effect on multitasking. You cannot put an Intel processor in there, that is an AMD socket, and the two companies sockets are not cross-compatible. The absolute best processor for that socket would be the dual core FX-60, but one of those will run you upward of $350, which is a little bit much to be spending on that setup. I would suggest going with this one:http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16819103627 it should give you the performance boost you are looking for until you are ready to fully upgrade your system.

I think your going in the wrong direction. I have a Sony VAIO SZ18GP Laptop which has Dual Core Processor, 1GB RAM and 80 GB SATA.

But when i try to write a DVD i wont be able to work on anyother application.

How did you come to a conclusion that the Processor is the issue.

If you are using windows xp try to go to Task Manager and see the Amount of CPU Usage and you wont see more than an average of 10%. Check for memory usage and it would be around 70%. So try to get in more memory. And a faster Hard Disk.

Its the combination of Processor, Memory, Mother board and Hard Disk would give you performance not the processor only.

Do you know whats the speed of your RAM. i am sure you would have got 266 or 333 Mhz Bus Speed RAM. If thats the case go and buy 400Mhz Bus Speed RAM and you would find a lot of Difference in application response.

Your Mother Board Supports 3Gbps sata and Raid over Sata.

So buy 2 New SATA Hard Disks which support 3 Gbps SATA and configure them for Stippring RAID.

So when you write 100 MB data 50 MB would be written in one DISK and the other 50MB in the second.

So your Hard Disk Speed would be doubled.

After doing the above come back and see the CPU Utlilzation if its above 70% then upgrade your CPU.

If you still need further clarifications please get back to me.

there isn't any scarcity of ideal motherboards. Your decision will matter on your budget greater suitable than something. in the journey that your no longer overclocking there is fairly no cut back on your decision. maximum any board with a P965 or P35 chipset could be completely great. P35 chipset boards help DDR-3 (some help the two DDR2 and DDR3) this is greater costly at present and doesnt convey alot to the table. P35 chipsets help the 1333FSB (your E6600 demands in basic terms a 1066) bus, so a P35 chipset board could be greater destiny data in case you intend on changing CPU's interior a year. or you will in all probability be greater effective off saving your $$$ and getting a good servicable P965 board. we've had good reviews with Gigabyte's GA-P965-DS3, which isnt too costly, and valuable properties stable state capacitors for the period of and a beefy VRM layout. yet there are literally dozens of alternative good applicants

nope Intel uses socket 478 and LGA775, 939 is strictly AMD. The FX series are decent. I believe the single core 2.6 FX-58 with 1MB L2 is around 160 or so. Go to newegg.com and click on amd processors, and you can look by socket type..
