Marino is about to slip right out of the "top 5" conversation altogether. Favre will own most of Marino's records after this season (If not all), and then Favre will have the records, the ring, and the 3 MVP's. then, Manning will pass them both, and HE'LL have the records, the ring (s) and the MVP's. Marino's days in the conversations as the "Best" are limited. he'll be in the "Next" tier, behind Manning, Elway, Favre, Montana, Unitas.

There will always be comparisons. I honestly think Marino and Peyton get a little more credit than some other greats. Not to take anything away from them though because they both are in the top 5 all time. But what about Brett Favre. Im from PA but in my opinion, he's just as good. Stats are just as good but he has to play in 0 degree temp every year where its alot harder to throw the ball and play at a high level. Peyton plays most games in his dome and Marino had most in games in sunny FL. Thats my opinion.

Yes. Being compared to Marino is not bad though. He is now on the next level though with the like of Favre, Montana and Yong etc.

No. Since Marino owns all the big QB records and Manning is on pace to break them, they'll always be linked together. Perhaps in the future another QB will be compared to Peyton Manning. (and it won't be his brother, ELI SUX!)

That will never happen even after he breaks all the records held by Marino. You are always compared to someone who came before you.

Yes, but people seem to hate Peyton Manning even more. I wonder why? The talk about "Brady is way better than Manning" somehow became even stronger. Oh! and the MVP subject...and that he faced a bad offense, and that Grossman gave the Colts the win...LOL...blah blah ...Also, there's this talk about 3 rings > 1 ring...

three things could happen:

1) they call him marino...with a ring

2) he moves up to the category of steve young and johnny unitas

3) he moves up to john elway...who like manning took a loong time to get a first ring

All Tom Brady has is a few super bowl rings.....other than that, he's overrated....Manning is a much better quarterback and he has twice the class that Brady has.....and a laser rocket arm

hopefully so...what I wish is that theyd stop saying he might be one of the best of all time...let his career end then figure where he rates...some of the best have resumes that are packed with titles and wins...not just records compiled against a bunch of teams that cant even make the playoffs from year to year
