I think it's sad, but not that depressing. But maybe it's because I can relate to the lyrics so well. I've probably had a couple more relationships than you. When you're my age you'll be a cold, hard cynical S. weet O. ld B. oy too. I have other depressing songs from '70s that I listen to. Now see what you made me do? I have to have my Amy fix and put Open Door on. Gee thanks a lot. lol.

MY IMMORTAL LYRICS
I'm so tired of being here
Suppressed by all my childish fears
And if you have to leave
I wish that you would just leave
'Cause your presence still lingers here
And it won't leave me alone

These wounds won't seem to heal
This pain is just too real
There's just too much that time cannot erase

When you cried I'd wipe away all of your tears
When you'd scream I'd fight away all of your fears
And I held your hand through all of these years
But you still have
All of me

You used to captivate me
By your resonating life
Now I'm bound by the life you've left behind
Your face it haunts
My once pleasant dreams
Your voice it chased away
All the sanity in me

I've tried so hard to tell myself that you're gone
But though you're still with me
I've been alone all along

HELL NO!

I LOVE Evanescence. And have for like 3 years. that song isnt the most depressing song ever. If you listen to some of their songs from the album Fallen there are songs that might seem very sordid. Not My Immortal.
Whatever.

Whatever floats your boat.

Actually, Evanessence song "Hello" is far more "dark and depressing" than My Immortal.

Hello

Playground school bell rings - again
Rain clouds come to play again
Has no one told you she's not breathing?
Hello, I'm your mind giving you someone to talk to
Hello

If I smile and don't - believe
Soon I know I'll wake from this dream
Don't try to fix me I'm not broken
Hello, I'm the lie living for you so you can hide
Don't cry

Suddenly I know I'm not sleeping
Hello, I'm still here
All that's left of yesterday
