And so you've talked to every light skinned African American and asked them their preference for dating, and vice versa. The way these questions are generalizing ALL of us get very frustrating. I don't care about skin color. My brothers are my brothers and my sisters are my sisters. People always have to try and create some kind of bias and it serves no purpose.

I am a medium complection not really dark and not really light but I do think the statement is sadly correct right now. I say that because of the media and all the images that are shown. In pratically all of the videos the main center of attraction is the light skinned girl while the dark skinned girls sit in the background shaking what they have or just showing it like that girl buffy. Most of the females that are in the media are light skinned and by putting them in the forefront has made the average guy assume or comform that light skinned girls are prettyer (Which I don't agree I myself wish I was dark skinned).

In my case, my complexion is a combination of peanut butter and butterscotch, I find that I'm more attracted to darker skinned. That is not to say that I haven't date all across the color lines.
It may also be environmental conditioning, My mother who was of a redder complexion preferred men who were darker. Her father light complexioned Black and Indian mix preferred darker skinned women.
We human beings and the issue of attraction is varied and complex.

i'm a light skinned "black african"... and i really cant explain it myself. for a while i was just so attracted to very dark skinned men... i though they looked chocolate yummy. just something dark and strong about a very dark complexion... (sigh). well, i didnt care anymore after a few dates gon wrong with most, coz it seemed most were colour washed... i think its opposite here in africa, most darker skinned people like dating us the lighter skinned blacks. but, at the end of the day... who cares? nobody elses choices hinder me or change my life...

Must be personality and interests. Looks are balanced out, but attraction comes last. Superficial looks aren't practice among couples. Don't listen to the girl below. Always trying to tell people how they behave. Ignorent lady.

Perhaps they feel that they need to be a part of thier race, and to marry a darker skinned person gives them that satisfaction. Looks seem to matter a whole lot more to black and hispanic races than to white and asian. They seem to feel like they must be with someone of the same race.

I would be colorblind. I would not make anything of it. To do so is to judge.
