The fact that John F. Kennedy was Catholic:
a - was not an issue that he felt he needed to discuss.
b - was never considered an issue in the election of 1960.
c - was dealt effectively by Kennedy.
d - almost cost Kennedy the election.

C. It was an issue, people were afraid he would take orders from the Pope as Gods representitive! (If you can believe it now days) Kennedy won by a small margin so I suppose you could make a case for D. but many other factors could cause this too. I remember his election is how I know.....God I feel old.

c. Unlike Al Smith in the 1928 election JFK was effective in how he presented his Catholicism and the people gradually let it go as an issue. D is very close to being correct as well.
